Like most of us, Jimmy Fallon of the Tonight Show, watched in embarrassment as hate groups congregated in Charlottesville, Virginia last week and clashed with Police and other protesters. It’s hard to joke about such ugly incidents and the host of television’s top Late Night Variety Show didn’t even try. Check out Jimmy Fallon’s serious tone and harsh criticism of President Trump as he starts Monday night’s show.
Jimmy’s not the first Late Night Host to go serious after a tragic event. Stephen Colbert got serious after the mass shooting at a nightclub in Orlando last year.
Late Late Show host James Cordon also got serious after a terrorist attack in London earlier this year. He had a message for those who commit acts od terror and those who live through it.
There’s a time for comedy and a time for a few serious words about the world around us. Kudos to these and other Comedy hosts for knowing when to be funny and when to dial it back and be human. ~Bill
