As everyone’s schedule ramps up and we start to think about the holidays we hope you remember those who are in need this time of year. Boom 101.9 is hosting its 4th annual Stuff The Studio in support of St.Vincent de Paul this Friday from 6am to 6pm.
Last year we collected close to 15, 000 pounds of food for there Christmas Basket program and that also allowed the shelves to be stocked beyond the holiday season.
Again this year our friends at Holy Trinity, St.Matthew and St.Joseph’s Catholic Secondary Schools are helping us out. Last year they combined for about 11,000 of our total pounds collected. These school communities are very generous and are a great example of how we take care of our own.
We’re also glad to have Rachel’s Kids back again this year with their $5000 donation which they coordinate with St.Vincent de Paul to ensure there are kid friendly items in the baskets where children are impacted. Rachel’s Kids have been with us since the very beginning and their total contribution over the years totals $20,000. They truly are making a difference in this community and we couldn’t be any happier they chose to help support St.Vincent de Paul through our event again this year.
We’d also like to thank Cornwall City Transit for shuttling the students from St.Matthew and St.Joseph’s to and from our location as well as Scott and Mandy from Fines Home Hardware in Cornwall and Ingleside for their 24 foot delivery truck and driver to get the food from the schools to St.Vincent de Paul that day.
We need everyone’s help to fill those baskets and beyond for the holidays and I hope you can come down on Friday between 6am and 6pm to help us out with a few cans, bags or boxes or non-perishable food items. There are so many people who make this event such a special day for us each year coming in to volunteer or drop off a donation. It really is a day when Cornwall and area shines a generous light and embodies what is the Christmas Spirit.
We’re anxious to see you all Friday!
