His career was envied by actors everywhere, his comedic genius unmatched by most and his reputation in Hollywood second to none. Gene Wilder passed away this week at the age of 83 and with him he took some of the most iconic comedy roles ever seen on the silver screen. Remember The Waco Kid in Blazing Saddles:

But did he do any character better than Willy Wonka. I think not.
Gene’s family announced that Alzheimer’s was a factor in his death this week. About three years ago, Gene did a Q&A session and you could see hints of fog in his memories but considering he was about 80 years young, he was pretty sharp. And his stories were fascinating.
