A great night at ESCA Gourmet Pizza + Bar saw Rurban Brewing Company launch a new collaboration (it’s first) in the form of a cask. Rurban produced a double IPA called Welcher’s Hop Juice in concert with local homebrewer Arthur Welcher. The beer has a nice citrus aroma and finishes with the hoppy flavour all IPA lovers want. A very drinkable beverage.
Tapping the cask and serving it directly from there is a throwback to the early days of serving ready to consume beer. There was no canning or bottling process. The 2oL keg was sold out within about an hour. Safe to say it was delicious. Welcher’s Hop Juice will be available later this afternoon(April 29) in cans at the brewery, 416 Cumberland.
Now let’s chat about the pie I had to accompany the delicious beer last night. ESCA has a Rurban pizza…IPA-infused BBQ base, grilled chicken, bacon, green onion, green peppers, mozzarella, beet-infused sour cream drizzle. Trust me you want to go try it for yourself. You can check out the rest of their menu here.
Congrats to Rurban, Arthur and the gang at ESCA for a great launch.
