My Sunday started with an hour of yoga on the bank of the St.Lawrence River. It was my first attempt at it and I really did enjoy the experience. Very quickly my lack of flexibility was obvious but I muscled through it.
Led by the very engaging and positive Lissa Joanis I did the downward dog for the first time along with my attempt at the crow and many other poses that the people around me with more experience were nailing with grace.
I really did enjoy the experience and it was more of a workout than I thought. It challenges you with body weight movement and engages the core plenty. There were sweat drips on my mat and it was cool and cloudy. At the same time I found it very relaxing and enjoyed the positive feeling from it the rest of the day. I could feel the benefits as I walked around all day with the stretching that goes with it.
You see it was a couples activity. I am a weightlifter and not a yogi, but my wife asked my to go with her and I always like to try new things, especially with her. She came on my motorcycle after years of saying no so I owed her at least this one, right?
I am a big beleiver that couples who do and try new things together, stay together. We all get into our routines and do the things we like but sometimes a new adventure shared and grow the relationship or make you a bit sore the next day (get your mid out fo the gutter i was referring to yoga).
Get out there and try something new with your partner!
