Like many hockey fans I was enamored with the Hamburglar’s story and the Sens push for the playoffs BUT that all ended when it turned out that my Habs will be their first round opponent. Am I sad two Canadian teams face off in the first round, yes, but those are the breaks and lines must be drawn in the sand.
Here is the single biggest reason the Habs will take the series in six games. EXPERIENCE. Sure the Sens have been on a big streak over the past two months to make it to the post season but the nucleus of talent that helped get them there (Mark Stone, Mike Hoffman and Andrew Hammond) have zero playoff experience. That alone should seal the deal.
In nets, I take a healthy experienced Carey Price over the recent heroics of the Hamburglar any day of the week to win four games first.
The Sens have been in playoff mode for two months and it will catch up to them, while Montreal is fresher mentally and prepared to go deeper into the post season than last year.
In a nutshell, experience and goaltending will decide this series and both favor the Montreal Canadians.
Go Habs Go!
