Minnesota Vikings player Adrian Peterson will be stepping away from football for the foreseeable future after being charged with child abuse last week. What did he do you ask? He disciplined his 4 year old with a switch. That’s a wooden stick whose only purpose is to “Make A Point” when it comes to your kid. Here’s a picture of what switches look like if you’ve never seen one.
Truthfully, if this is your preferred method of discipline, any thin tree branch could work.
So there are two sides to this debate really.
1. I spank, switch, slap, strike my child to keep him/her in line
2. I use other methods of discipline that don’t include assaulting my child
Fox Commentator Sean Hanity has said that he received the belt as a child from his father and that he “turned out fine”. he explains himself in the clip below.
Whether your a parent or not, you have an opinion on this one way or the other. Some might even say they use a mixture of both physical and non-physical discipline when it comes to children.
What side are you on?
Should Adrian Peterson be sidelined from football until all is resolved?
