Over the weekend, San Diego Padres reliever Alex Torres debut the long anticipated pitchers protective cap that is supposed to help cushion the blow of a hit baseball to the head of a pitcher. I have no doubt the the hat works but it looks like Hell!

I get that this may save a life someday but if your going to play the game professionally, isn’t part of that accepting the risk of playing the game in the first place?
I think the new caps look dumb and distract from the game on the field. The game of Baseball has been played since the mid 1800’s, so why are we trying to make it “safe” all of a sudden? Stop changing what isn’t broken. ~Bill
