The 80’s had everything. Rubic’s Cube, Stretch Armstrong, Hulk Hogan, and Cabbage Patch Kids and until they were banned… Lawn Darts.
What a relaxing, yet competitive way to waste a summer Sunday afternoon with your friends. Kool-Aid, Rice Krispies Squares and Lawn Darts. And despite my friend’s and I’s reckless youth, no deaths or injuries caused by Lawn Darts.
Maybe I was lucky. Maybe those Darts should have killed more people but in the 80’s, it was a simpler time. Kid’s safety wan’t even on the radar. No bike helmets, no elbow or knee pads, and certainly no concerns about large and heavy sharp pointed objects thrown in close proximity to other young human beings. We just did things for fun.
Some folks did take advantage of the dangerous darts in their youth, like The Office’s John Krasinski.
I miss Lawn Darts! Do you? ~Bill
