Some artists really get that meeting and chatting with the fans is what gets you the fame, recognition, notoriety, wealth and good karma most seek. Like pop artist Rihanna.
She knows how to have fun with and connect with her fans (in this case grope maybe a better term). Avril, not so much.
Avril is not the first celebrity to be kind of stand off-ish when it comes to picks with their fans. Check out this pic of Kevin Costner and I from an outdoor festival a couple of years ago.
Sure, he’s smiling but I assure you, he was not remotely interested in standing there with me or any of the other fans standing in line to meet him. Definitely awkward. But, not all celebrity pics have been that way for me.
Here are just a few that have gone really well. (I used to work for a country station so that’s the reason for so many country artists)
Terri Clark and I
Country artist Aaron Pritchett and I.
Celebrity Chef Massimo and I.
Country artist Jason Aldean and I
Country Crooner George Canyon, my little guy and I.
And one more…
Country duo Pear (Denis and Lynae Dufresene) and I
See, these artists and celebrities know that these pics with their fans, most times, mean the world to them. And that momentary brush with fame, could lead to more album sales, book sales, and merchandise sales. The artists make a living while the fans take a treasured souvenir of meeting someone they revere. I guess Avil Lavigne’s not worried about that so much.
By the way, all these Avril fans dropped $400 extra to get these awkward photos. Just so you know, unless it’s in the price of your ticket, you shouldn’t ever have to pay to take a photo with your favorite celebrity. I never have.
I’d love to see your celebrity photos. Post them up on twitter and Facebook for all of to see. ~Bill
